By and large his entire life, Wolfgang Tillmans has been "reporting" keenly on the world around him. Growing up in Germany in the 80’s, Tillmans began by documenting cultural movements, photographing the youth style and culture that reflected the political issues of that time. His newest show, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), opened up last week in collaboration with the David Zwirner Gallery in New York, showcasing over seventy recent works. Tillmans presents the photographs in a variety of sizes and mediums continuing the unconventional exhibition style that has become his signature. Juxtapositioning happenstance phenomena beside intimate portraits and other still life subjects, the seemingly random body of photographs work together to offer a unique, inside perspective of the German photographer’s outward gaze on the world. On display at David Zwirner, New York, until October 24.
