"I read this a couple of years ago on the recommendation of a friend, and it really stuck with me. The first essay is written as a letter to his teenage nephew and is an extremely powerful, personal and elegant dissection of racism in America. The second essay addresses religion and there’s a tense account of a meeting with Elijah Muhammad, a leader of the Nation of Islam. I gave my copy to another friend, but it’s a book I need to reread- thoroughly recommended."
