Gosha Rubchinskiy's eponymous label is an amalgam of post-Soviet youth culture in Moscow and the designer's own imaginative vision of his native country, Russia. Oftentimes referencing periods of Moscovian fashion and melding them with specific socio-political views, Rubchinskiy reveals a new conceptual message with each collection. Self taught in many aspects, he is also a published photographer who sees his work behind the lens as integral to communicating the unique image of the brand. In 2011, Gosha Rubchinskiy partnered with Comme des Garcons to produce a special selection of apparel for the retail concept store, Dover Street Market, and has since continued that relationship with the fashion house for their production expertise.
