Joe Walia is a former member of the Neighbour team and the other half of James Coward along with previous "Our Neighbour", Daniel Garrod. He is currently based in Berlin working as an assistant for Frank Leder. We caught up with him on his recent visit back home and had him wear a few of his favourite pieces from the shop.
Do you have a daily routine?
Lately my routine has been a rotation of espresso, work, reading, skateboarding, and shooting pool.
What are you currently reading?
Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Nietzsche as well as a book on Joseph Beuys.
One song that you will never tire of?
Strange by Patsy Cline. Patsy always keeps me company late at night if I get lonely.
What is your favourite meal?
Depends on the day! The Tonkatsu Teishoku from Hachibei always hits the spot.
Current obsession?
The Großer Brauner from Cafe Sperl in Vienna and just Viennese coffee house culture generally.
What's the next thing you're going to make?
We are putting the finishing touches on a secret shop in Vienna for Frank Leder! Also Daniel and I are currently cooking up some new garments and footwear for James Coward.
